Highlight With a Side of Wings

Winged eyeliner has been a makeup classic since the ’60s. Why? Because it has the ability to turn anyone into #BEAUTYGOALS. Highlighting on the other hand is something that has gained popularity semi-recently, and has everyone trying to get that beauty-blogger status highlight. Here is how to recreate this beauty look on yourself:

First, moisturize your face and make sure that your skin texture is even before applying foundation. Start off with some lightweight liquid foundation, then dab some concealer under your eyes and blend with foundation using a beauty blender. The dewy-skinned look with a really shimmery highlight has been one of the hottest beauty trends of the summer. To achieve this, first use a primer, which helps bring out the highlight. After primer, take a foundation powder on the apples of your cheeks a shade darker on than your liquid foundation as a great way to add a bronzed color that will go under your highlight. Then add the a highlight using a highlight powder and an angled brush on the top of your natural cheek bone. To dramatize the highlighted look, go back with a blush, starting in the hollow of your cheek and fanning outward to the side of your face. Cat eye winged liner is this Fashionista’s signature look. The secret to seamless application is a liquid liner that has a thin pointed brush as the applicator. Pro tip: Apply mascara first! You’ll see where the natural direction of your wing should go from the end of your last lash. Start at the outer corner of your eye drawing a diagonal line towards the direction of where your eyebrow ends. Wherever you stop your line, draw a slanted line straight back down to the lid (there should be a little triangle). Fill in the triangle, and you have the perfect cat eye! End the routine by adding a neutral lip and show off that fierce highlight and those on-point wings.

To get this exact same glam look, you’ll need a variety of products. For the face you’ll need Benefit Cosmetics Big Easy Liquid to Powder foundationNARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, a beauty blender, Becca Cosmetics Backlight PrimerMAC Studio Fix FoundationBecca x Jaclyn Hill Highlight Pallet in Champagne Pop and Prosecco Pop, an angled brush and MAC blush in Format. For the eyes you’ll need MAC Liquidlast Liner in Black and Perversion by Urban Decay mascara. For the lips this beauty guru used Whirl by MAC.

Maria Grazia Chiuri- The First Lady of Dior

_DIO0935.jpg

Fashion folks and feminists rejoice! This past week in Paris during fashion week history was made: Dior appointed Maria Grazia Chiuri as their first ever female creative director. Chiuri is no rookie when comes to major fashion houses– she left Valentino to come to Dior, and before that Raf Simmons. With only six weeks to prepare this collection, it has been met with some criticism, particularly about how it seems ‘very Valentino.’ Cut the woman some slack! It’s hard to come up with a whole new design aesthetic when you’ve only got a month and a half to produce a 64 piece collection. I don’t think it is fair to judge her completely on her first collection with Dior, but on what her next show will behold come spring. None-the-less, the spring 2017 ready-to-wear collection was beautiful. See all the Looks here.

Pastels, Textures & Prints, Oh My!

Alessandro Michele, the creative director of a tiny fashion house that you may have heard of, said that he is a collector; “I love taking prints, embroidery, appliqués—precious things that seem to be from another time—and using them to create a contemporary, new story.” Michele’s inspiration for Gucci’s spring 2016 collection was drawn from many places and time periods. He took patterns and embellishments from imperial China as well as folk needlepoint from 19th century America, combined with style of the ancient regime of France. Holy moly! Talk about everything and the kitchen sink—which just so happens to be my style. I am a firm believer that more is more!

So channeling Michele’s beautiful vision, I started off with some pleated, cropped pajama trousers to give my look that texture that is seen throughout the collection. I paired it with a simple cropped tank top to keep the outfit from getting too busy. I topped it all off with an Asian-inspired bomber jacket. A bomber jacket, in my amateur opinion, is the “it” garment of the season. You may be thinking, “Who wears a jacket in the summer?” And perhaps you’re right! But I think no matter what time of year it is, a bomber jacket is a great piece that can be worn so many different ways. Next I added some touches of gold throughout my look with my gold heels, gold-framed sunglasses and rose gold evil eye necklace. Gucci and gold go together like peanut butter and jelly, right? The one element to my look that is drastically different from the Gucci collection is the colors. Gucci is all about vibrant jewel tones and rich colors—my outfit consists solely of muted, pastel tones. Pastels have been very hot this season and I wanted to give my look that extra element to be a bit trendier.

Get My Look: 1. Pleated pants.(Mine are Topshop) 2. Any plain tank top. 3. Printed bomber jacket. (Mine is Zara) 4. Metallic heel. 5. Jennifer Zeuner evil eye necklace. 6. Chloé sunglasses.

Blog Lovin X H&M

Wide-leg, pleated, cropped pants paired with a printed Bardot styled top is my favorite go-to for the summer. Thus, I paired it with my favorite H&M top from last spring. I also wanted to give this outfit a sporty-chic vibe with the Adidas original superstar sneakers. I love hows the black and white stripes balance the tomato colored pants yet hint at the black and white print of my top. Western is also a very cool trend for this summer. So I wanted to tie this outfit all together with a western vibe styled belt. I highlight my look with a splash of gold in my jewelry and sunglasses. With the raving popularity of Adidas originals, I thought juxtaposing the sneakers with the premium look of this outfit would make it very unique.
